Coffee Break® is the Alzheimer Society’s nationwide fundraising event. Participants make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee or purchase a coffee cup cut-out at participating retailers or local organizations. Many people also host a virtual coffee break® online at www.alzheimercoffeebreak.ca. All money raised supports critical programs and services offered by the local Alzheimer Societies, helping individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease or oother dementias. The event has raised approximately $12 million since it began in 1996, with more than $1.3 million in 2009 alone. This year, the Society has set a fundraising goal of $1.5 million in honour of the event’s 15th anniversary.
Great, How Can I Host One?
Hosting is easy! You can hold a break in your office, at home, at your community centre, in a local mall or anywhere you can set up a stand and serve coffee. You can offer tea and juice as well as coffee, and add cookies or pastries to increase the donations. Just contact Sarah and she will provide you with all the materials you will need to host a successful Coffee Break!
No time to host a traditional Coffee Break?
You can still help raise funds! Create an online Coffee Break personal fundraising page and while co-workers, friends, and family are enjoying a cup of coffee, they can support the Alzheimer Society and make an online donation through your Coffee Break page. Follow the five easy steps to sign up online and start fundraising today!

1. Click on the Sign Up Button in the right of the screen
2. Enter your Contact Information and create a User Account. Your user account information allows you to log into the website whenever you want. You will receive a Coffee Break confirmation email that contains the log in website address. Keep this for easy access back to the site.
3. Tell us about your COFFEE BREAK · You can HOST A COFFEE BREAK or CREATE A COFFEE BREAK FUNDRAISING PAGE (Virtual Coffee Break) · To host a Coffee Break, make sure to select the SEND INVITATIONS option at the bottom of the page.
4. Create your own COFFEE BREAK PAGE. From here you can upload your own YouTube or Google video, and add a picture or personal message to your page. You can also select from our media library.
5. Once you are registered you can start sending emails simply by going to the MY COFFEE BREAK tab and clicking on either the SEND INVITATIONS link or GET SPONSORS link located in the left side bar. It's easy to ask friends and family all over the world to make a donation. They're just an email away.

You benefit because it is easy to create your very own personal fundraising page and you can email friends, family and co-workers asking for their support or to attend your coffee break. Donations can also be made online, which makes handling the funds that much easier. · Friends and Family can support you and respond to your invitation by simply clicking on the link you email them. Donors can use any major credit card and will receive an instant tax receipt when they sponsor you online. It makes collecting donations from people near and far simple. · Alzheimer Society benefits when you register online. They can track all of the Coffee Break pages online and help you host a fantastic coffee break and raise much needed funds.
